Camellias are flowering plants of the genus Camellia and family Theaceae. There are several hundred species, all native to tropical Asia.
These shrubs, whose height ranges from 1 to 10 meters, are evergreen, that brings out their abundant flowering.
The camellia flowers are single or double. Their shape may be that of roses, peonies or carnations. Their colors range from white to red through pink. There are also variegated varieties.
Planting of camellias
Camellias bloom in a mild climate, particularly in ocean climate They are able to withstand quite harsh winters (down to -15 or -20 ° C).
It is advisable to plant them in autumn (October-November) or spring (March-April).
